1. Serpent Squires - Are responsible for getting ready swimmers 10 & under. They make sure they have their caps on and goggles on their head. Serpent Squire Parents hands them off to the Deck Parent.  Children must stay in their designated age group area during the swim meet. If the swimmer leaves the assigned area, it is the parents’ responsibility to make sure they are ready for their event and bring them back to the assigned area four events prior to their event in order to not scratch. (3 people needed – 1 for each age group 5-6, 7-8, 9-10)

2. Ribbons - Sit at the scoring table and place labels onto the ribbons. This person does not have to start at the start of the meet. (1 - 2 people needed)

3. Deck Parents - Takes the younger swimmers to benches/lanes for individual and relay events. (2 people needed)

4. Runners - After a page is completed, the runner collects the sheets from the head timer from each lane and takes them to the scoring table. You stay on the move throughout the meet, so it's great exercise! Home Meets Only. (2 people needed)

5. Timers - This is the most popular meet job among both new and experienced swim parents. You use a stopwatch to time the swimmer in your assigned lane. There are three timers per lane (at least one from each team). This is a GREAT position to get an up-close view of the races. (18 timers – 9 for first half of the meet and 9 for the second half)

6. Volunteer Check-In - Check in volunteers before the meet starts and ensure a smooth transition half way through the meet at the shift change between event #38 - #39. (2 people needed)

7. Event/Heat Sign  – Use counter to display the current Event/Heat for the meet.   Home Meets Only. (1 person needed)

8. Stroke & Turn Judges – These judges determine whether a swimmer touched the end of the pool during a turn and whether the technical aspects of the swimming stroke were legal. It requires knowledge of the US Swimming stroke regulations (which are taught at the stroke and turn clinic), and a willingness to fairly disqualify swimmers when appropriate. No prior knowledge of swimming is required for this position. *Must attend a MSSL Stroke and Turn Clinic. (2 for first half of meet/2 for 2nd half)

9. Starter – This individual starts the races by running the starter equipment. Home Meets Only *Must attend a MSSL Rules Clinic. (1 person needed)

10. Referee – Head official during the meet. In charge of timers, stroke-and-turn judges, other judges. Handles disputes and keeps the meet moving. Home Meets Only *Must attend a MSSL Rules Clinic. (1 person needed)

11. Scorekeeper - Scorekeepers learn how to use the Dolphin Timing System in conjunction with Meet Maestro to run meets. (1 person needed)

12. Assistant Team Manager- The assistant manager helps both the coach and Team Manager (Britt Sauls) organize volunteers for each meet, respond to team emails when necessary and assist with being the liaison between the parents and coaches. (1 person needed)
